公文式の英語について
今回は『公文式の英語』についてご紹介しようと思います。
公文式というと算数・数学を真っ先に思い浮かべますが、英語教育や国語などの教科のほうにも近年、力を入れています。
公文式の特徴はプリント学習で、自習形式で学校では習っていない分野までも進むことが出来るということです。
英語もCDでネイティブの発音を聴きながら進めていきますが、目標は英会話ではなく、原書が読みこなせるような英語の読解力を身につける、ということで、教材がレベルアップしていくにつれて、長文読解の割合が高くなってきます。
また低年齢の子どもでも英検の合格者の割合が多いというのも、特徴になっています。
対象年齢は幼児からで、幼児教材は簡単な短い単語を、CDについて繰り返すというもので、飽きずに楽しめるようになっています。
最初から英語の文字を意識した作りになっていますが、文字を書く練習は小学校4年生相当の教材からです。
また公文式にはS.R.S(Speed Reading System)という教室があり、これは中学課程修了以上の人が対象で、英語の文を日本語に置き換えないで、英語のままで読みこなすスキルを身につけるものです。
仕事で大量の英文を読む必要のある人、原書や英字新聞を読みこなしたい人、またTOEICやTOEFLなどの試験対策にも役立ちます。
