マザーグースについて
今回は教室や教材といった事では無いのですが、英語を学習するというより楽しむものをご紹介しようと思います。
皆さんは「マザーグース」というものをご存知ですか？
名前は知っている方も多いのでは無いでしょうか？
マザーグースというのはイギリスで古くから伝わる童謡です。
日本にも童謡は数多くありますよね、童謡はその言葉、言葉の発音をそのままにメロディーとなっている場合が多いのをご存知でしたか？
「赤とんぼ」という童謡も「夕焼け～小焼けの～赤とんぼ」と歌いますが、あの発音が元々の「赤とんぼ」の発音なのですよ、現代の発音とは少し違っていますね。
話がそれました(^^ゞ
英語圏の子どもたちは、小さいときにマザーグースの歌を聴いて育っているといってもいいかもしれません。
ビートルズなどの歌にもマザーグースは多大な影響を与えているといわれていますし、日本でも多くの歌が和訳されて伝えられています。
その詞も北原白秋や谷川俊太郎の訳が広く知られ、和訳は和訳で独特な世界を作り出しています。
また英語のままで、幼児英語教育の教材として使われることも多いです。
わかりやすい英語と歌詞で、遊び歌や数え歌など、小さい子どもでも英語のままで、すぐに覚えられそうです。
英語の発音やイントネーションを覚えられるとともに、英語圏の国の人たちの生活が少し見えるような
気がします。
大人が聴いてもマザーグースの歌は楽しめると思います。
日本でもよく知られているマザーグースの歌はたくさんありますが、「ロンドン橋落ちた」、「10人のインディアン」、「きらきら星」、「メリーさんの羊」などは誰でも知っている歌です。
歌で楽しむだけではなく、マザーグースの絵本も多数出ていますので、英語のままで読んでも、絵が助けとなってその独特の世界を楽しむことが出来ると思います。
