TOEFLについて
今回は、皆さんもご存知「TOEFLについて」ご紹介しようと思います。
TOEFLというのは「Test of English as a Foreign Language」の略で、英語を母国語としない人の英語力を測るためのテストとして1963年に開発された40年以上もの歴史がある英語の試験です。
今や世界220以上の国や地域で、年間80万人が受験をし、世界の4400以上の機関にスコアを利用されている、非常に世界的に認知度の高い英語運用能力テストです。
アメリカ、イギリス、オーストラリア、カナダなどの大学に留学を希望する学生は、必ずTOEFLを受けて、そのスコアを大学側に提出しなければなりません。
その国で講義を受けて理解できる英語力があるかどうかを測るためです。
また大学の単位認定や海外派遣員選考の目安にするなど、そのスコアの利用方法は多いです。
テストはインターネットテストとペーパーテストの二つがあり、どちらを選ぶかで開催場所や日時、スコアの表記方法が違いますので注意が必要になります。
インターネットテストは、ペーパーテストにはない英語のspeakingの能力が追加されています。
スコアの幅は0～120点です。
ペーパーテストはマークシート方式でスコアの幅は310～677点です。
